The National Resources Foundation gains most of its popularity for the Black College Expo that it sponsors every year. In such Expo, African American students along with other minorities are given the opportunity to connect with historically black colleges and exhibit their talents and qualities to counselors. The Black College Expo is a great platform for the average high school student who would otherwise not be aware of the many opportunities available to them at the university.

Aside from the Expo that targets potentially suitable African American college students, the National Resources Foundation also sponsors a myriad of other Expos and programs that also serve to connect individuals with resources that may be available to them. According to the organization’s website, the mission of the foundation is to provide scholarships, offer tutoring, and be the link to careers and internships, in addition to connecting students to college counselors. So students who might be seeking a career as a CPA preparing business taxes or as an engineer working in green technology can now find out ahead of time how to go about that and where to find help preparing for those careers.  Aside from putting on a successful Black College Expo every year, the National Resources Foundation also sponsors a College Expo that invites high school students to converse with counselors of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the nation. The foundation also sponsors a Career, Internship, and Vocational Expo that connects individuals with jobs and various industries that may suit them well.

Although the government is steadily increasing college tuition while offering less financial aid for students desiring to attend, the National College Resources Foundation has picked up the ball and ran with the idea of educating today’s youth. The Black College Expo that is scheduled to take place in California next year will allow students to attend with the possibility of being accepted by colleges and universities on the spot; a feature that has not been implemented in past times. While recent statistics say that high school students are not attending college, the National College Resources Foundation is aiming to change those numbers.
